A male Southern Hawker, 

Aeshna cyanea easily recognised by the large yellow patches on the thorax.

Female Southern Hawkers have a more muted colouration.

Hairy Dragonfly  Brachytron pratense

Seen here mating, with the male at the top.

These are the first of the large dragonflies to appear at MSQ in May, occassionaly earlier. MSQ is one of the most reliable sites in the historical county of Lincolnshire for this lovely species.
